Press Release
While waiting in line for that morning Grande Skim Latte, no foam, you cannot help but talk about what you’ve just read in the newspaper or heard on the morning news: how new buildings are shaping the skyline, how the culture of the city is evolving, plans for a baseball field, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, and new social and environmental issues and trends. So why not share those opinions with more Charlotteans?
Charlotte ViewPoint is a totally unique online magazine and community forum. It is a forum for students, teachers, city and community leaders, and engaged citizens to gather and express their thoughts about the growth and future of their city. Charlotte ViewPoint seeks new voices interested in contributing to a more vibrant and compelling place.
Charlotte ViewPoint’s mission is to advance compelling ideas and art about the civic and urban life of the region. The site—launched in November 2003—publishes columns, essays, stories, poems, photographs, and videos submitted by local citizens.
“We seek to capture the highest and best expression of what a humane metropolis can be,” states Mark Peres, president and editor of Charlotte ViewPoint. “We are diverse in voice, analytical in approach, constructive in tone, and insightful in spirit. We explore the city as the great construct of civilization.”
“The Charlotte ViewPoint community has been built by word-of-mouth,” Peres notes. “We invite interested citizens to sign up on our website to receive notice of the release of each issue of Charlotte ViewPoint magazine and to receive occasional news and notes about our organization—including receiving invitations to special events and gatherings. Please invite friends and colleagues to join our email distribution list and help us expand and deepen the Charlotte ViewPoint community.”
