His Dogness does not speak of his past. So we cannot say whether he comes from Albuquerque or Duluth or Frog’s Breath Junction. For all we know, His Dogness could have arrived by spaceship from another world.
That’s what his buddy Mr. Whitfield thinks. He thinks it’s the only way to satisfactorily explain His Dogness’s idiosyncrasies, which are legion. For one, His Dogness thoroughly enjoys barking at airplane vapor trails. What other dog do you know who likes to do that?
But who knows? Perhaps all dogs from Frog’s Breath Junction bark at vapor trails.
We can say with certainty that His Dogness likes music and art and books. Once, he became so engrossed in a book about Shackleton’s adventures in the Antarctic that, when he heard Lord Kelvin in the kitchen making sandwiches for lunch, he didn’t even bother to see whether Lord Kelvin had accidentally dropped a piece of turkey on the floor.
Lord Kelvin is his closest friend. Where you find one, you usually find the other.
His Dogness has many other friends as well, including Nessie, who lives in a loch in Scotland, and Ajax, a dragon who travels incognito as a parrot. Sometimes, during the off-season, Santa Claus drops by His Dogness’s reading club.
His Dogness believes that, when opportunities for worthwhile adventures present themselves, you should take them up on the offer.
This is the story of His Dogness’s adventures with a blue heart.

Reviews
“His Dogness Finds a Blue Heart is a fine story, I suppose. But, by all rights, the first His Dogness book should star me, Ajax. Who wouldn’t rather read a story about a dragon than—no offense intended—some heart found in a ditch?”
Ajax (a dragon in reduced circumstances)
“Frankly, I don’t understand what Mr. Dogness’s problem is with squirrels. To the best of my knowledge, no squirrel has ever done anything to offend Mr. Dogness. We just work hard in hopes of, God willing, setting aside a few extra nuts for winter.”
Nestor Treetop, interim president of Amalgamated Squirrels of America
“A book that doesn’t have any cats in it—what kind of book is that?”
Rainbow Quickpounce, author of 10 Tips for Better Serving Your Cat
