Henry David Snow is a failed writer with an appetite for melancholy and an addiction to puzzles, real and imagined. David, who resides in a gated community of retirees in Florida, finds himself attracted to Rocio Durán, a Latina housekeeper. Rocio is attracted to David, as is Carolyn Pate, David’s neighbor. David ends up following Rocio to Mexico and returns a different man, at least in Rocio’s eyes.

Old-Timer is an elegant comedy and parable in which a writer’s life works out in a surprising way. David calls his unexpected success a sellout. Perhaps it is, perhaps it is not.
