A harried career woman is forced to pull her car into a peaceful veterans’ cemetery when she has mechanical trouble. After calling for help, she decides to leave the hot car and sit on a bench beneath a shade tree overlooking the neat rows of crosses. As she waits impatiently, fiddling with her PDA and laptop computer, she hardly notices an elderly woman who comes from nowhere to sit beside her.

The old woman, ignoring the businesswoman’s lack of interest, proceeds to tell her—without even asking if she wants to hear it—what turns out to be an amazing story about one of the people buried nearby.
Mysteriously, a second storyteller, in the form of an elderly gentleman, appears and reveals the inspiring ending to the old woman’s tale.

Now captivated by the story, the woman receives a final revelation when a young soldier appears. This third storyteller shows the busy executive that her stop at the soldiers’ cemetery that day and her encounter with the three “angels” are no mere coincidences.

The mystery of how these people and their fates are intertwined will offer hope for those who are hurting or who have loved ones of their own fighting a distant war. The story is a salute to veterans everywhere and the sacrifices they make for their country. It is a story for those who are left behind and the sacrifices they make in wartime as well. This theme resonates strongly with today’s world situation. But this is primarily the story of parallel journeys derailed by war that are put back on course thanks to family, friends, and faith.

Reviews

"As a career military member and one who served in Vietnam, I found myself absorbed in The Soldier's Ride from the first words. The impact we can have on the lives of others, frequently without realizing it, is a subject I've long been interested in and spoken about. Edie Hand with Jeffery Addison's words give us an inspiring example of this, the strength we may unexpectedly draw from others in our greatest hours of need, and of true heroism. It's a book to read, remember and reflect about and I've done all three. . . ."
Wilma L Vaught, Brig. General, USAF Ret., president of Women's Memorial Foundation, Washington, D.C.

"A series with important messages for these times about the value of affirming love and renewing faith in families."
Dr. Judy Kuriansky, PhD, psychologist, TV and radio commentator, and top-selling author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to a Healthy Relationship

"Edie Hand and her co-author Jeffery Addison have done it again. Their new book, The Soldier's Ride, is a moving tale of Christopher Lawrence, a young soldier who, after returning home from World War II with severe eye injuries that left him blind, prolongs his emotional healing by pushing away those who love him most. One of those he pushes away is Marie Benedict who has never stopped loving him, challenges or not. Edie Hand knows how to write about challenges because she has overcome many of life's challenges herself. One can't help but hear her own heart and strength come through the pages of this book."
Martha Bolton, former writer for Bob Hope and the author of over 50 books, including Didn't My Skin Used to Fit?

"The Ride series are refreshing stories which take us back in times of our lives that we tend to forget in the hustle and bustle of today's world. I highly recommend the series. They are beautiful journeys."
Tonya S. Holly, writer/director/producer Cypress Moon Studios

"The Soldier's Ride is an inspiring story of faith and love. I love the portrayal of the angels who visit Diana Meade and change her life. The book presents the tremendous rewards of perseverance and prayer. You will want to identify with Marie."
Lila Hopkins, award-winning author of inspirational fiction, including The Master Craftsman

"Edie and Jeffery show us in this series that our journey is made up of many short yet memorable rides. These novellas offer us simple, powerful lessons to fuel us on those future rides."
Joey Kennedy, Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial writer for the Birmingham News
