Sally Atkins, Ed.D., is a registered expressive arts therapist, poet, licensed psychologist and practicing psychotherapist for over thirty years. She is Professor of Human Development and Psychological Counseling at Appalachian State University, where she coordinates the expressive arts therapy concentration and postgraduate certificate program. She is the author of numerous professional articles, co-author of Expressive Arts Therapy: Creative Process in Art and Life, and two volumes of poetry.
