Robert L. Baldwin, M.D., M.A., was a physician/surgeon in otology (a specialty treating ear and related nerve disorders) in Birmingham, Alabama, for 25 years. He gave up his practice due to illness and then returned to school for a master’s degree in public and private management at Birmingham-Southern College. During his studies, he became interested in capital punishment. Now a tireless advocate for reform of our death penalty laws, Baldwin devotes his time to public service work in prison ministry, as a certified lay speaker at Canterbury United Methodist Church, and as president of the Alabama Ear Institute, a nonprofit organization he founded, which is dedicated to children born deaf and hard of hearing.
