Ann S. Cottle
Ann Southerland Cottle, a resident of Penderlea since the age of four, is a retired English teacher and past writer for the Pender Post, where she established the much-read “Backburner” recipe column. Ann earned her degree in secondary education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She currently serves as chairman and board member of the Penderlea Homestead Museum. An active member of Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church, she sings in the choir and has served as an elder, Sunday school teacher, and youth leader. She and her husband, Gene, are the proud parents of two sons and a daughter, and grandparents of two grandchildren. They celebrated fifty years of marriage in 2005.
