Jeff Diamant

Jeff Diamant has covered religion for the Star-Ledger in New Jersey since 2003. Before that, from 2000 through 2003, he wrote about agriculture, local, state, and occasional national issues for the paper for three years. From 1996 through 1999, he covered crime for the Charlotte Observer in North Carolina, and wrote a book —Heist!—based on the biggest event on his beat, the $17 million heist from Loomis Fargo, an armored car company. It was the second biggest cash heist in U.S. history. He previously covered local government for the Palm Beach Post in Florida. He graduated from Yale University in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in political science and in international studies. He grew up in Staten Island, NY.
