Walter Hilderman III

Walter Hilderman IIIA 1987 graduate of Pfeiffer College, Walter C. Hilderman, III began studying the American Civil War when he was eight years old. In 1963, at the age of fourteen, he became a Civil War reenactor. He retired in 1999 after thirty years with the Charlotte, North Carolina, police department. He and his wife, Pat, moved to an 1840s plantation house near Eutaw Springs, South Carolina. Since then, he has divided his time between Civil War reenacting, writing, and Confederate history and heritage.
