Jack Horan
Jack Horan, a reporter for The Charlotte Observer and an avid hiker and canoeist, is co-author of Paddling South Carolina: A Guide to Palmetto State River Trails and the author of Where Nature Reigns: The Wilderness Areas of the Southern Appalachians. His 1993 newspaper series, “Vanishing Carolinas,” won the Southern Environmental Law Center’s first annual Phillip D. Reed Memorial Award for outstanding environmental writing in the South. Horan lives in Charlotte, NC, with his wife, Rita.
