He has a graduate degree in photography from Indiana University, has worked as a photojournalist, a collections curator, and has taught photography at three universities. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Lilly Endowment. He lives in Bangor, Maine, and operates Lumiere Photographic Studio at 58 Main Street.
