M. Joann Moretz M. Joann Moretz, a native of Watauga County, North Carolina, holds childhood Christmas memories of when the family kitchen or occasionally the backyard shed was turned into a workshop for her mother’s wreath making. Her grandmother, older sister, and other family members also learned the craft of wreath making, as have many other Appalachian women.
