An Old Salem Christmas, 1840 is Karen Cecil Smith’s first children’s book. While living in Winston-Salem and attending Salem College, she became interested in Moravian history. It was the beauty and authenticity of Old Salem Museums and Gardens, which surround the college campus, that inspired her to write An Old Salem Christmas, 1840.
