Garvey Winegar

Garvey Winegar is a self-described “wanderer, vagabond, attracted to wild and remote places, a bit disillusioned with some of what passes for ‘progress.’ But like Sabatini, ‘...born with the gift of laughter, and the sense that the world was mad.’” He has been the senior outdoors columnist for the Richmond (Virginia) Times-Dispatch and has been widely published in outdoor magazines, including Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, and Virginia Wildlife.  The Scott County, Virginia, native has won numerous state and national awards in his 30 years as an outdoors writer. He and Deane Dozier Winegar coauthored the Highroad Guide to the Virginia Mountains, winner of the Excellence in Craft Award from the Virginia Outdoor Writers Association.
