Since
North Carolina’s Historic Restaurants and Their Recipes was first
published in 1983, its three previous editions have sold over 33,000
copies. In this fourth edition, you’ll find 50 restaurants that are
housed in buildings at least 50 years old. In addition to a description
of the restaurant's building, decor, and cuisine, each entry includes
2-3 recipes from that establishment. Rich
in food, atmosphere, and tradition, these restaurants offer something
for every taste and budget.
More than 140 recipes are
presented here, with clear, step-by-step instructions. The author
carefully tested and edited every recipe to ensure consistency and good
results. Now you can reproduce even the most sophisticated dishes of our
finest restaurants in your own kitchen.
about the author
Dawn O'Brien was raised in a Navy family and credits that experience
with her interest in food and cooking. "Growing up as I did, living
all over the country, you develop a taste for different kinds of food
and different styles of cooking." She did her undergraduate work at
Stephens College in Missouri and at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill, then received her master's degree from Wake Forest
University. A free-lance writer whose work has appeared in numerous
publications, O'Brien has authored several of Blair's titles in the
