Morgan Murphy

Bestselling author Morgan Murphy is often called “America’s funniest food critic.” His books, I Love You--Now Hush (Blair 2010), Off the Eaten Path (Oxmoor House 2011), and Off the Eaten Path: Second Helpings (Oxmoor House 2013), have made him one of the culinary world’s best-known food critics. Millions have read Murphy’s trademark wit in Vanity Fair, Forbes, Esquire, Garden Design, Harper’s Bazaar, The New York Post, and Southern Living.

Off the Eaten Path became an immediate bestseller for Time Warner, climbing to No. 20 on Amazon in 2011. His first book, I Love You–Now Hush, released in 2010, garnered critical acclaim and awards from the Independent Book Publishers Association, the American Librarian Association, and others. Murphy has appeared on The TODAY Show, Fox & Friends, CNN, Sirius/XM, and NPR. He holds an MBA from the University of Oxford and an undergraduate degree from Birmingham-Southern College. Murphy is passionate about public service and serves as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, where he is currently assigned to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Lt. Commander Murphy is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, where he was awarded the Meritorious Defense Service Medal and the Afghan campaign medal, among others.

Morgan lives in Birmingham, Ala., where he mentors young people to read in Birmingham’s STAIR program and serves as a trustee on the boards of the Virginia Samford Theatre, the Downtown Kiwanis Club, and Independent Presbyterian Church.
