Deane
Winegar is an award-winning outdoors writer and nature photographer who
especially enjoys the challenge of capturing the many moods of
wilderness areas on film. A former newspaper reporter and news bureau chief, Deane is a
native of Staunton, Virginia.
Garvey
Winegar has been the senior outdoors columnist for the Richmond
(Virginia) Times-Dispatch for
12 years and has been widely published in outdoor magazines, including Field
& Stream, Outdoor Life, and Virginia
Wildlife. The Scott
County, Virginia, native has won numerous state and national awards in
his 30 years as an outdoors writer.
They
are coauthors of Natural Wonders
of Virginia: A Guide to Parks, Preserves and Wild Places and live in
the Blue Ridge on the southern end of the Shenandoah National Park,
where park bears are their closest neighbors. Deane is the author of Highroad
Guide to the Chesapeake Bay.
