This
guide to the top 12 vacation spots in the Carolinas and Georgia gives
the reader everything needed to plan the ultimate soft-adventure
getaway, whether it’s for a quick weekend trip or a one- to two-week
vacation.
As the second title in the successful Play Hard Rest Easy™ travel
series, Play Hard Rest Easy:
Carolinas & Georgia combines the best elements of outdoor sports
books, B&B or inn guides, and general travel guidebooks into one
comprehensive source. Each chapter includes an entertaining history of
the area; the lay of the land; and detailed flying and driving
directions. Also in each chapter, a “Play Hard” section describes
the best active pursuits, including hiking, mountain biking, road
cycling, paddling, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, scuba diving,
sailing, and snow skiing, just to name a few.
Readers
will also find descriptions of more relaxed activities, including
antiquing; visiting art galleries, historic sites, museums, spas,
wineries, and plantations; touring back roads; taking boat, buggy,
hot-air balloon, and walking tours; attending music and theatrical
performances; and, of course, shopping. Each “Rest Easy” section
recommends upscale lodging choices—historic inns, quiet B&Bs, and
full-service resorts—as well as great places to eat from chic
restaurants and cafés to roadside BBQ shacks, fish houses, and picnic
spots.
Each
chapter also includes recommended itineraries; dozens of photographs;
up-to-date websites; and GPS-accurate regional and city maps.
