A Cappella Books presents "Writers @ The Wrecking Bar," a monthly fiction series at local brewpub The Wrecking Bar. Each program includes authors in conversation with local book critics, audience Q&A, and a book signing. The bar opens at 7PM, with the conversation starting at 7:30PM.
April's WWB features two of the South's most powerful storytellers, Michael Farris Smith (The Fighter) and Chris Offutt (Country Dark), in a conversation moderated by the editor of The Bitter Southerner, Chuck Reece.
Michael Farris Smith is the author of Desperation Road, The Fighter, Rivers, and The Hands of Strangers. He is the recipient of the MLA's Mississippi Author Award for Fiction and the Transatlantic Review Award for Fiction. Rivers was named to numerous Best of the Year lists and his short fiction has twice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. He lives in Mississippi with his wife and daughters.
